We Can’t Stop Staring at These Screenshots of Second Life in Silhouette

Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting

Aegean is a fascinating photographer with two distinct styles which he divided into two accounts. I will save the other for tomorrow, but for today, let’s look at his silhouette studies of Second Life.

I love this picture “Somewhere in Time”. The way it is shot, all cast into shadow, give it the quality of being out of space and time. It could be anywhere outdoors. I also love the laconic relaxation of their bodies. They are comfortable together, slouching and relaxed. Wonderful. He shares a song by a favorite singer of mine, Jill Scott. The picture was taken at Birdlings Flat. [Teleport to Birdlings Flat]

“Friday night” gives us a pic of him sitting on the shore as the sun sinks below the horizon. Agan, he’s in shadow. This is a common form for his pictures, showing him from the back. Often when people are shot from the front, their faces are indistinct, sometimes in shadow, sometimes out of focus. They are sort of anti-vanity pictures, “look at this form, not at me” pictures. (The song he chose to accompany it was Avicii – The Nights.)

You'll miss me when I'm gone

“You’ll miss me when I’m gone” caught my eye. I love the feeling of aloneness, of a person separated from us. But it’s not sad. It’s simply beautiful. The song says it all “You’ll miss me when I’m gone.” [Teleport to Panjin]

Aegean’s photostream is gorgeous, full of pictures that convey emotion. It’s a stunning collection of pictures that say a lot even though the don’t show a lot.
